ST. AGNES ACADEMY
SCHOOL EXPANSION UPDATE JANUARY 2017
We’re getting our School Hall back next week (week beginning 16th January), following enlargement and refurbishment work throughout the summer and autumn periods. We’re really excited about this as, in addition to PE, assemblies and school dinners, our now bigger Hall will host fitness training and circus skills sessions for children, zumba sessions for adults and a school disco, all in the first week! External fire exits in the School Hall and Class 5 will also be reopened, making this part of the school ‘open for business’ again. We’ve worked really hard to ensure that our children did not miss out on things while the Hall was unavailable and we thank you for your patience.
The new block is progressing well; scaffolding has been erected around the building and the roof work commences this week. This part of the project will be protected behind monoflex sheeting for a little while, though the Kier team are working on a plan to provide an uncovered area where we can watch the work going on.
Members of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) have expressed a keen interest in getting involved in aspects of re-landscaping the grounds to the rear of the school once the building works are complete. The help of parents is very welcome and we look forward to working together to develop the school grounds in innovative ways in the coming months.
It has recently been confirmed that Cormac has agreed to include in their proposal double ‘no parking’ lines either side of the crossing. This is one of the things we asked for and is good news, but unfortunately it will extend the consultation period, which will in turn affect the completion date for installing a new pedestrian crossing. We will, of course, update you as we know more about this.
